The Museum of Gaming History

The Museum of Gaming History is growing and we need your support. The MoGH came to life in 2014 with the showing of exhibits at the El Cortez Hotel and the Mob Museum. We are working on showing several new exhibits in the coming year. The MoGH needs your support to fund these projects. We seek to grow the hobby by expanding interest in Gaming History. October 19th

2025 - Sunday

1953 - Pleasant Valley, NV. Jubilee Club opened at 23005 South Virginia Street (Highway 395 South). The five Pagni brothers ran the Club as a restaurant, bar and casino until 1960. They reopened the Club on April 21, 1967, with one 21 game, one craps game, one poker table and five slot machines. The club closed for good on November 12, 1978.

1955 - Las Vegas, NV. Copa Lounge opens at 3103 South 5th Street, on the Las Vegas Strip.

1992 - Tunica, MS. Splash Casino opens.

1985 - Reno, NV. Harold Smith, Sr., one of the founders of Harold's Club, died at his home in Reno.

1991 - Las Vegas Nevada. Planet Hollywood International, Inc. is a theme restaurant inspired by the popular portrayal of Hollywood and was launched in New York on October 22, 1991.

2025 - Thursday

2000 - Belterra, IN. Belterra casino opens.

2001 - Las Vegas, NV. Desert Inn Augusta Tower imploded on October 23,2001.

2013 - Las Vegas Nevada. The new Downtown Grand opened on October 27, 2013. It is a boutique hotel and casino with 25,000 square feet of casino space, 629 newly remodeled hotel rooms, 9 bars & restaurants and a 35,000 square foot urban rooftop pool retreat called Citrus.

2005 - Baton Rouge, LA. Argosy casino becomes Belle of Baton Rouge.

2009 - Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. Sosua Bay Grand Casino opens.

2025 - Saturday

1956 - Reno, NV. Horseshoe Casino opened at 229 North Virginia Street. It operated almost continuously until September of 1995 under a variety of owners, including Bob Cashell. .
